Area is 2220 including the deck. Costs given to you are in US$. In Rs it would be close to 2,500,000/-. Since we will be constructing ourselves, ultimate cost will be minus 10% for sure. I'm just giving you ball park figures. The idea is to use the place for homestays.

For 2220 sq feet that is an excellent price, don't think you could do it here anywhere for that price, Wally may know better than I though.

What does the term "Homestays" mean? Is it a private vacation home for just you and family/friends or is it like an Air B&B where you rent it out?

I totally believe that Wally!  MT is having a housing boom right now and prices here are similar to CA...many CA people relocating here drove prices up a lot!  skb, that $30,000 price is a steal compared to prices here!

OK, I guess I am confused. You own the land already right? You are having the house built for $30,000 on your land, so isn't it yours for that amount? Granted you may have to finish interior depending on how the deal is, and furnish, so more costs. But isn't it your house for the $30,000?

I should never try to figure these things out so close to bedtime, my brain is mush at this point...

Yes I own the land.

I couldn't begin to guess, less I'm pretty sure, but probably not by much. Wally can give a better idea on that by far than I can.

If you were to buy a home like yours already built, what would you pay there? Just curious.

Didn't have time to do any research on the price comparison today. My home, purchased 20 years ago is a double wide mobile home (built in 1976) with an addition and full double garage. Total sq feet of home is 2700. I have 1.2 acres of land. I paid $117,000 for it. Back then things were much cheaper. Today I expect my land alone is worth almost that, by itself!

Yeah, when I first moved here I was selling on eBay and had the addition as my office and shelves for books and storage of the crystals I was selling. The room is not used for much now other than my files of biils and tax stuff. My printer is in there too. I have one bedroom that I call the Library as I have shelves of all my books and magazines in there (I always dreamed of having a library) then a guest room that is basically now just clothes storage in the closet. The rooms I use mainly are the huge kitchen, 2 of the 3 bathrooms, my bedroom, the living room, the laundry area and the storage area space that is between the original unit and addition. I could probably live in a 2 bedroom 2 bath place easily, but there is just so much stuff here I hate the thought of trying to move. And then there are the kitties....
