QuoteShining a specific frequency of red light on a person's back for 15 minutes can significantly reduce blood sugar levels, according to a new study from City, University of London and UCL (University College London).

The researchers found that 670 nanometres (nm) of red light stimulated energy production within mitochondria, the tiny powerhouses within cells, leading to increased consumption of glucose. That was interesting! All the pushing to switch to all LED lights to save energy/money may end up being bad for our health. This is probably not a treatment that will be available in my lifetime, but I can see it being used as another tool in the toolbox of things available to help control bg.

I wonder if the light from my salt lamp counts as red light even though it has a LED bulb inside?
