Just read a report that research scientists at North Carolina University have developed a patch containing live beta cells which will secrete insulin on demand, without the fear of hypoglycemia. The patch would work for 10 hours according to the report.

T-2 dx 2/2012 FBG 243 A1c 9.5%   A1c 6/2012  5.7%.  A1c 4% club 7/2013 to 12/2016.
12-2016 5.1%.   6/18 5.3%.   6/19  5.7%.  6/20 5.7%.  7/21 5.2%.  8/22 5.5%.  7/23 6%.
Off meds 3/2015, diet controlled.  Minimal exercise.
